History
Saint Edward’s School opened in 1965 on the Riomar campus with 31 students in grades 5-8. By 1974 grades K-12 had been added. The first class of students to have attended all 12 years graduated in 1979. Today there are more than 2,000 alumni of record.
The vision of the founders was to create a school where moral virtues could thrive and the educational atmosphere would produce responsible adults. The original mission statement was “mind, body, spirit.” The School’s core values have held constant, with an emphasis on advocacy and developing moral and spiritual character and good citizenship.
The Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts was made possible through the generosity of Vero Beach philanthropists Lorne and Heidi Waxlax, whose children Christina and Robert attended Saint Edward’s. The Waxlax Center is a state-of-the-art performing arts center with a seating capacity of 800. It is handicapped accessible and climate controlled.
