Our Mission
The Department of Music offers a personalized education at the baccalaureate level to equip students to perform at professional levels and to think critically as musicians and educators. This personalized education is augmented by numerous performance and ensemble opportunities. The department sponsors musical performances both alone and in conjunction with the theatre and art departments to reach out to both the university and the community. Currently serving over 110 majors and minors, the Department of Music is housed in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. The Center for Fine and Performing Arts includes two performance venues, the Music Hall (302 seats) and the Mainstage Theater (460 seats).
Accreditation Excellence
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music since 1971, faculty and adjunct support of the music curriculum provide professional training in music performance and music teaching at the undergraduate level.
Distinguished Faculty
The department consists of seven full-time faculty and an array of highly qualified adjunct faculty.
