UFIPF assembles promising young pianists for lessons and masterclasses with distinguished piano teachers from North America and across the globe. Originating in 2007 as the Chinese-American International Piano Institute (CAIPI), the event has hosted some of the finest performers and teachers from around the world. Upon review of application materials, students will be invited to participate in one of three divisions:
Highly advanced applicants will be invited to participate in the Artist Division. There is no upper age limit. Artist Division participants will be assembled into small, rotating study groups, giving each student the opportunity to receive a lesson or masterclass from each member of the faculty--a total of five lessons. In addition to morning lessons, Artist Division participants will perform in public masterclasses and recitals every afternoon and evening.
UFIPF Honors Recital: Six outstanding Artist Division participants, determined by faculty vote, will be selected to perform in the UFIPF Honors Recital at the close of the festival.
The Rising Artist Divsion is open to any progressing pianist, age 13 or older. Rising Artists will receive three private lessons from UFIPF faculty. Additionally, Rising Artists will receive classes in music theory from UF faculty. Rising Artists will receive full access to Artist lessons, masterclasses and concerts.
Closing Recital: As part of the UFIPF closing events, Rising Artists will perform in a recital.
In addition to attending all masterclasses and concerts, UFIPF Observers will have open access to observe the private teaching of all faculty and all Rising Artist classroom activities.
