The Pops Orchestra has a unique history. We were founded in 1975 as the Sarasota Community Orchestra under the direction of Arlene Stein. During that first year, the orchestra grew from five to thirty members. Today, The Pops Orchestra is comprised of more than sixty musicians including some of our community’s finest professionals as well as non-professionals of all ages, reflecting the diversity of our audience and patrons.
We have a continued commitment to bringing music to all people. This is evident by our low ticket prices and varied programming. Each concert is designed to entertain, invigorate and project our passion and enthusiasm for music and features “something for everyone” to enjoy.
