Music Program Statement of Purpose

The Music Program at Florida Memorial University has a special focus on students reared in the oral musical traditions of the African Diaspora such as jazz, gospel, R&B, and the many genres and instrumental styles of Latin and Caribbean music and is accredited by the National Association of School of Music – nasm.arts-accredit.org

These students have tremendous technical ability but may lack the necessary theoretical knowledge.  The program endeavors to bring the students’ theoretical ability on par with their tremendous musical skills by the end of their matriculation at Florida Memorial University. Students may choose from the Music degree offerings in the program.
