Central Florida Community Arts (CFCArts) Young Artist Orchestra
CFCArts exists to enrich our community’s quality of life by making the arts accessible and affordable for all. We provide an inclusive and welcoming creative platform where individuals can connect by joining an artistic family, perform for audiences across the socioeconomic spectrum, and use their talents to serve the community.
Our History
After years of music making, the founders of Central Florida Community Arts (CFCArts), Joshua Vickery and Jonathan Cole, came to the realization that Central Florida does not offer many cultural platforms for EVERY musician to use his or her talent. Therefore, in September of 2010, they decided to begin the journey of creating an incredible community arts program. They began reaching out to influential people in the Central Florida area and every one of them responded with overwhelming support – thus, Central Florida Community Arts was born. Since then, many people have been working hard to make this dream become a reality – the organization was molded into a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity and a Board of Directors and a team of staff members were both developed.
After a successful kick off in February 2011, CFCArts performed their inaugural concert to over 1,200 people in May of 2011, with a choir of over 130 singers and an orchestra of over 35 players. That community choir has since grown into several separately-themed choirs with over 400 members total and their per concert audience has grown to upwards of 5,300 patrons. CFCArts now also has a 155-piece community symphony orchestra, 100 children and youth registered in their program for school-age performers, a top notch vocal ensemble called Legacy!, that acts as the organization’s vocal ambassadors to the community, a theater program that showcases new and established works, and the CFCArts School for Performing Arts, which offers affordable lessons and workshops in applied arts to Central Floridians of all ages. Most recently, CFCArts has begun a Young Artist Orchestra for instrumentalists under the age of 18 and the Musical Minds Choir, which – run in conjunction with location chapters of Dementia Resource Center and the Alzheimer’s Association, – is specifically for adults experiencing the early stages of memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease.

Meet the Young Artists Orchestra
The Young Artists Sinfonia
The Young Artists Sinfonia is a string orchestra for our youngest members. It is structured to allow the young beginner to intermediate level string student an opportunity to participate in a large group ensemble experience. The Sinfonia plays advanced beginner to intermediate repertoire and typically performs multiple concerts each year. The Sinfonia typically includes musicians who can perform level 2 or 3 string books. Sinfonia Annual Cost: $175
The Young Artists Philharmonic
The Young Artists Philharmonic is an intermediate String and Wind Orchestra, consisting mainly of middle school students with some talented elementary school students and a few high school students. The Philharmonic’s mission is to give students an educationally sound musical experience in a full orchestral setting through exposure to quality musical literature and performance opportunities. Intermediate to advanced orchestral repertoire along with challenging arrangements of great masterpieces are rehearsed and performed throughout the concert season. The Philharmonic Orchestra performs about six concerts each season. Philharmonic Annual Cost: $175
The Young Artists Symphony Orchestra
The Young Artists Symphony Orchestra is a full orchestra performing challenging orchestral repertoire. Symphony Orchestra is an advanced group of students ranging from age 11 through age 17. Professional guest artists may appear as featured soloists and a fully dimensional orchestral stylistic curriculum includes learning music of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century. The Symphony is featured in numerous concerts throughout the year. Symphony Orchestra Annual Cost: $175
Audition Information
- All students, current members and any new students, must audition!
- Auditions are to determine the student’s current skill level.
- Auditions will be held at Central Christian Church, 250 SW Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando, FL 32804 on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 from 10am-3pm & Saturday, August 20th, 2016 from 10am-4pm

- Students will be asked to audition with a prepared solo, scales, and sight-reading.
- Symphony Auditions: students should play a minimum of a grade 4 solo (FBA/FOA scale)
- Philharmonic Auditions: Philharmonic Strings: a student should play a level 2 or 3 grade solo (FOA scale)” and Philharmonic Winds: a students should play a level 1-2 grade solo (FBA scale)
- Sinfonia Auditions: student should have completed level 2 or 3 string books and play an excerpt from one of them.
- Each audition will take no more than 10 minutes, and students/parents will be contacted with placement by Saturday evening, August 20th, 2016
- Season dues must be paid by the second rehearsal on August 28st, 2016 unless a payment plan has been agreed upon.
